jowar butter almond cookies | sorghum flour cookies
Tea time is the best time of the day when generally on weekends everyone in the family sits together and enjoy their chits chats along with a sip of tea and coffee along with their best partner- the cookies. We generally bought marked packed cookies which are made with all purpose flour which is not good for health.
These days multi grain cookies are also available in the market but they are overly priced which are quite unaffordable in daily use. So I prepared cookies at home with such a millet which is healthy and tasty to eat. I prepared the cookies with jowar/sorghum flour which is high in dietary fibres and contains lots of antioxidants. It is a natural cure for patients of diabetes, staple food for celiac patients, lowers blood cholesterol, helps in weight control. I mixed jowar flour with wheat flour to give extra binding to the cookies. But you can prepare it exclusively with the jowar flour.
Wheat flour- 1cup
Jowar flour- 1.75cup
Full fat malai- 1 cup
Powdered sugar- 1/4 cup
Grated jaggery- 3/4 cup
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Crushed almonds- 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence- 1tsp
1.Chill malai in deep freezer for 15 minutes.
2.Beat chilled malai and sugar together with the help of beater till it becomes creamy.
3.Now add vanilla essence and cardamom powder to the malai mix.
4.Sieve the flour together and add to the malai mix.
5.Now beat this mixture with the help of beater till it becomes sticky. Now add grated jaggery and beat it again.
6.Take an aluminum foil or cling wrap and put the cookie dough on it. Fold and wrap the cling wrap as shown in the pic.
7.Now put this deep freezer for around 1 hour.
8.I kept it for 1.5 hours.
9.Preheat the oven at 180 degrees C for 10 minutes.
10.Now take out cookie dough after 1to 1.5hr and cut it into pieces.
11.Sprinkle almonds on each cookie.
12.Place the cookies in a microwave plate and bake in convection for around 30 to 35 minutes at 180 degrees C.
13.Notice the cracks developed on the cookie surface.
