Bread is a staple food generally prepared with flour and water and is prepared by fermentation process by baking method.
Bread has been widely used throughout the world. Bread is such a versatile food that numerous variants can be made with this. It can be a breakfast, short snacks or main course dishes. Bread can be variedly used and serve the most flavorful foods throughout the world.
Well!! today I have got the most basic and widely used variant of bread, “the sandwiches“.
Sandwiches could be savory or sweet and can be served as breakfast, lunch or dinner or as packed food for lunch tiffins or picnic snacks.
Eating greens is very important for our health and we have got the , “Go Green Sandwiches”.
The recipe is derived from Matar Paneer ke Paranthe…(https://piquantplate.wordpress.com/2018/02/26/matar-paneer-ke-paranthe/ ) Actually, the day I made those paranthas, my kiddo refused to eat the parantha and said, “i will eat sandwiches”. So, I made these sandwiches with the same filling with a moderation of adding cheese and tomatoes.
- Green peas/matar- 500 gms
- Cottage cheese/paneer- 200 gms
- Grated ginger- 1 tsp
- Chopped onion(optional)- 1/2 cup
- Roasted suji- 1/2 cup
- Red chili powder- 1 tsp
- Haldi powder- 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1.5 tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Hing/asafoetida- pinch of
- Saunf/fennel seeds- 1 tsp
- Chopped green chilies- 1 tsp
- Sabji masala powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
- Roasted jeera powder- 1/2 tsp
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Processed cheese- 1 cube small size
- Tomato- 1 large size
- Butter- for brushing
- Sandwich bread- 4 slices
- Wash the green peas thoroughly and strain them.
- Grind them to a fine paste in a grinder. Do not add water while grinding.
- Heat a pan and brush some oil in it.
- Add roasted jeera powder and hing to it.
- Now add grinded peas and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add green chilies, grated ginger, red chili powder, haldi powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, sabji masala powder, saunf seeds and salt to it.
- Saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add grated paneer to the mixture. Mix thoroughly and add roasted suji to it.
- Mix all the ingredients and turn off the flame.
- Now let the stuffing cool down.
- Now take a bread and apply butter on one side of the bread.
- Now put some stuffing on the side where butter is applied and put slices of cheese and tomato on it.
- Now place the other slice of bread on the stuffing keeping the butter side towards stuffing.
- Now in a sandwich maker, put the bread sandwich and toast it.
- If you don’t have a sandwich toaster then take a non stick flat tawa and roast the sandwich from both the sides until turns brown and crisp.
- Cut it into halves diagonally.
- Serve with grated cheese and tomato sauce.
- Applying butter on the breads is completely optional.
- I have taken normal white bread but you can better take whole wheat or multigrain bread.
